For the third time I read the phrase "The Timing will never be right" each time nodding my head in agreement, but thinking of all the things that would need to be done to make it "The Right Time". Work...Family...Obligations...Saving and Planning for the Future. I could write a full chapter entitled "Reasons that I can't go" or "Here's why I can't do it" . But this time was going to be different. After all, back in January at the start of the new year, I had taken for myself as a New Year's Resolution, "Living Bolder"....and intentionally doing so. Maybe this was the place where I pushed the envelope. Closing the book I first smiled then began to laugh. Yes, the other people on the plane looked at me like I was nuts. I really didnt care. I was going to do it. To make time for all those things that I had wanted to do but the timing was never right. To chart a new direction for my life and what it might look like moving forward.....and starting with June. The whole month of June. For a man whose last real vacation was 16 years ago this was going to be a radical departure. And if it worked....if it worked as I had planned it.... I was going to do it again in October....and then again next February....and then...
So June 1 I am off on an adventure. An Adventure filled with places and people and experiences and opportunities. Both spiritual and personal growth. Already my attitude has changed, like a child waiting on Thirty Christmases.
And I have made some plans. Charted a route. Contacted some friends who would be along the way. And personal goals. What would this adventure be without some personal goals to accomplish within the month? Here are a few of mine.
1. Teach myself Spanish (I think that this may come in helpful as I look to the future and my desire to do some missionary work at some point)
2. Open up two internet storefronts (just some thoughts in my mind of some sidebars that I would like to develop...and no, there is nothing nefarious there :-)
3. Tweak my own company's webpage. Update verbage and pictures and things like that.
4. A daily devotional of the Book of John. Long a favorite book of the Bible of mine.
5. Lose 15 pounds....enough said.
6. Journal. I have never done that and this blog is part and parcel to that.
Come along and join me on my adventure as I 'Catch Tomorrow'.
