DAY 9.....a stop in St Augustine

Leaving Jacksonville I headed over to St Augustine one of the oldest cities in the country. St Augustine is known for two things. Having a lot of old stuff.....and the Fountain of Youth. It seems that Ponce de Leon back in the 1600's came here looking for the Fountain of Youth. Frankly, I am surprised that he had such a hard time finding it as well marked as it is :)

I left St Augustine not real impressed frankly and headed up  US A1A along the coast towards my date with the TPC Course at Sawgrass to which I was really looking forward to playing. I will share that story tomorrow. But here are some observations and thoughts now 10 days in:

People are really nice and so many just wish to be appreciated. A kind word or comment goes a long way.

I packed way too many clothes. Way too many. You really don't need that much stuff and come Monday I am planning on shipping a whole lot of clothes, suitcase and all, back home.

I am surprised at the price of gasoline. When I left Pittsburgh on June 1 I filled up for $3.89 per gallon. Just outside of Washington DC, in Fairfax, Virginia, I hit the high water mark of $4.09. Seventy miles away in Luray, Virginia I paid $3.35.....a penny cheaper for each mile driven. Most places down the east coast have been $3.45 to $3.69 per gallon.

My Bible Study has me in the third chapter of the Book of John. Verse 16 and 17 reads...."For God so loved the world that he sent his only Son, that whosoever should believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him."

......and here is something that I came across:
